Taj Mahal
(i) The Taj Mahal is situated in Agra,India near southern bank of the river Yamuna.
(ii) It is one of the seven wonders of the
world.

(iii). It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (1628-1658) in memory of his beloved
wife,Mumtaz Mahal.
(iv). Construction of the Taj Mahal tooks
22 years, from 1632 to 1654.
(v). More than 20,000 workers are employed in
this construction.
(vi). About 32 crore were spent
during construction of the
monument.
(vii). The Taj Mahal stands on a
square marble base 312 feet on
each side and 23 feet high.
(viii). Atop the entire building is a
large onion shaped dome.
(ix). It is supported on a tall drum,
and the top stands 243 feet above garden level.
(x). The Taj Mahal sparckles in the moonlight when the semiprecious stones in the white marble on the main mausoleum catch the glow of the moon.
(xi). The Taj Mahal is pinkish in morning,milky-white in the evening and golden when the moon
shines.
